The snow has arrived early in Sutton and with it my new “LOVE local” Challenge. Let’s share great local gift ideas in time for Christmas!
It is not even Halloween yet and it’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas! Or is it just me? To be fair, it may have more to do with the foot of snow that got dumped on us over the weekend! No kidding…
It’s way too early to get the Christmas decorations out, so we decided to go Dia de los muertos instead with a snow-squeleton-woman.
It seems like Thanksgiving only just passed, that Christmas is pointing its frosty nose. I’m not ready! But I have to admit, I do see some poetry in it: Thanksgiving allowed us to reflect on everything we are thankful for, and Christmas reminds us of the importance of sharing and giving. In a way, that is also what this blog is all about: my way to mark my gratefulness and hopefully share some goodness.
Sharing and giving, that is the spirit of Christmas, right? Lately, the “magic of Christmas” has gotten somewhat lost for me under the heaps of wasteful wrapping paper, shopping madness, cheap and useless gifts, endless parties and just ridiculous amounts of food & drink!
So, am I turning into the Grinch? This shocking thought made me decide I needed a challenge to do Christmas differently. Now. Before the Holiday Madness creeps up on us! The challenge is a simple one. It’s a fun way to remind & inspire myself (and hopefully others!) to be mindful, by shopping locally & just appreciating all the amazing things we already have! I’m calling it #DefiLOVElocal
Join me for the “Defi LOVE local” Challenge!
Why should you join me for this challenge? For fun of course! What more positive way to discover all the great stuff the Eastern Townships have to offer, and hopefully make the Holidays a little more sustainable?
Share your pictures with #DefiLOVElocal
Share your pictures of a to-die-for local delicacy, a magical Christmas market or the work of your favorite artist (and mother)!
Show some love for your neighborhood bakery or that new boutique you just discovered!
It’s easy, just share your favorite local pictures with the #DefiLOVElocal hashtag on Facebook or Instagram. It is no secret: Inspiring your friends to shop locally, helps local families instead of exploiting people elsewhere. Let’s support our local talent & help tell their stories loud and clear!
You can participate in the #DefiLOVElocal challenge until December 15, 2016. I will post a round up of my favorite pictures tagged with the DefiLOVElocal hashtag just in time for Christmas! Who knows, maybe you’ll inspire someone to take the time to enjoy a nice coffee or purchase a locally crafted gift. You can also follow me on Instagram & Facebook for “shop local” ideas.
I look forward to sharing the LOVE with #DefiLOVElocal
Thank you for joining the challenge and for sharing this post, it means a lot to me!
